After reading this blog post, you’re one step closer to becoming a voice command pro.
“Hey Siri, how do I make voice commands?”
If you have an iPhone, chances are you’ve asked Siri your own questions before. Siri, like Samsung’s Bixby and other virtual assistants, is just one way to put voice commands to good use. There are other ways, too, and we’re going to explore some of them here. After all, why bother trying to type or read something, when you can just ask your phone to do it for you? That’s the simple beauty of voice commands.
If you want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your phone’s voice command features, keep reading.
Just ask Siri
On new iPhones, Siri is already turned on and ready to hear your first question or command. Maybe you want to ask her what the weather is or tell her to set an alarm; it’s as simple as pressing and holding down the home button until you’re prompted to speak. You can also turn the feature on/off and adjust the Siri settings. Just go to Settings > General > Siri to set it up the way you want.
Voice texting
You can simply say out loud what you want the text to read.
Don’t feel like typing out a text message? Are your hands or eyes too busy to type? Just use a voice command! You send the message just like you normally would, but instead of typing out the words, you hit the little microphone icon at the corner of the keyboard. Then, you can simply say out loud what you want the text to read. After that, hit done and send it on its way.
Voice dialing
Voice commands are also great for making hands-free calls. Say you’re in the kitchen baking up a new recipe, but you can’t remember how much sugar it calls for, so you need to phone a friend. You don’t want to get your messy hands all over your phone screen, so instead, you decide to use voice commands. To tell your phone to make a call, open up the Voice Command screen and then say “Call Diane” or “call 555-5555”. It’s that easy!
