Have you ever used apps before? If not, check out this handy guide to learn about the basics.
Apps are one of the best parts about smartphones. They allow you to access everything you might need to, right from the palm of your hand. However, the idea of using apps might seem overwhelming for first-time smartphone users. That’s why Tracfone has put together this handy guide to help get you on your way to enjoying everything your phone has to offer.
There’s an app for everything
The more apps you download, the more useful your phone becomes.
When you hear people say, “There’s an app for that!” they aren’t kidding. There really is an app for just about everything. Your new smartphone will come with some apps already installed. New iPhones, for example, usually come with a compass and a health tracker, among others. So as soon as you power on your phone for the first time, you can already get started using apps.
But that’s just a very small sampling of all the apps out there. The more apps you download, the more useful your phone becomes. There are apps for social media, where you can connect with family and friends. There are apps for hobbies, like gardening, running, and photography. There are even apps for everyday things, like music, TV shows, shopping, banking, driving, and so much more. Basically, if you can think of something you might like to have on your phone, you can probably get it.
How to get apps
Apps are easy to get. Bonus: a lot of them are free! If you have an iPhone, simply click on the bright blue app labeled “App Store.” It comes pre-installed. From there, you can start searching for apps. Once you find one you like, click on Get and wait for it to download. When it’s finished, it’ll appear on your home screen.
If you have an Android, the process is very similar. But you’ll want to click on the app labeled “Play Store”. It looks like a colorful arrow.
Other tips for using apps
Once you start building your collection of apps, you can actually organize them on your screen. Just click and hold to drag them to different screens. If you drag one app on top of another, they’ll create a folder. You can then name that folder. For example, you can put all your games into a folder so it’s easier to find them later.
Want to delete apps? No problem. On an iPhone, all you have to do is click on the app, hold, and press the X in the corner. On an Android, go into the Google Play Store app > Menu > My apps & games > Uninstall.
