Expand Your Options With Convenient Wi-Fi Calling

What can you do when you need to make calls but get a weak signal? Wi-Fi calling to the rescue.

Tracfone offers UNBEATABLE NATIONWIDE COVERAGE™, making it easy to make and receive calls just about anywhere. But you’ve probably found that it’s harder to get a strong signal in some places than others, whether that’s the building where you work, a family member’s house, or other locations where natural features and structures interfere. When that happens, there’s no need to worry – you can use Wi-Fi to call and text instead. This way, you get to experience the same wireless freedom provided by Tracfone and stay connected no matter what.

What is Wi-Fi calling?

Normally, your phone uses data to send and receive calls and texts. But when you turn on Wi-Fi calling, your phone uses Wi-Fi to do it instead; think of it as a backup plan in case your cell service is slow. Wi-Fi calling will get you the best coverage in your area, so that you don’t have to worry about dropped calls or hard-to-hear conversations. It’s just another way you can rely on Tracfone to keep you connected.

Perks of using Wi-Fi to make phone calls

Wi-Fi calling is free; you’ll never have any extra bills, overages, or mystery fees

The main benefit of Wi-Fi calling is that you can use it when cell service isn’t available. But there are some other benefits, too, including:

  • Wi-Fi calling is free; you’ll never have any extra bills, overages, or mystery fees
  • Wi-Fi calling is quick and easy to start using
  • You can use your same phone number to make and receive calls, as well as send and receive text
  • All Tracfone customers are eligible for Wi-Fi calling as long as your device is active and supports the feature.

How to use Wi-Fi calling

Dropped calls? Low signal? It sounds like the perfect time to use Wi-Fi calling. First, you’ll need to enable the feature by going into your phone’s settings. It’s usually located under a menu option called “Phone” but every device is different. Luckily, Tracfone makes it easy with step-by-step tutorials for each phone model.

Next, you’ll need to connect to a Wi-Fi network just like you would with a computer or tablet. Again, you can do that by going into your device settings and selecting a network you want to join. It can be your home Internet connection, a hotspot, or even a public Wi-Fi network.

Once you’re connected to the Internet and you have Wi-Fi calling enabled, you’re ready to start making calls and sending texts. When you’re ready to switch back to data, there’s nothing further to do. Simply leave the area to disconnect from Wi-Fi and return to data, and your Tracfone device will handle the transition.
